This spring edition of CHANGE focuses on God as our Supply, our Source, and our Sustainer! Nothing highlights this more than springtime, when everything is in bloom, and we witness the beauty of God’s creation as it blossoms right before our eyes.
In my article “God Sustains Us," I remind you that God is truly the One Who sustains all life: plant life, animal life, and human life. There are so many things that science still can’t explain. So, don’t believe for one split second that they’ve figured it all out. In fact, science is continually making startling revelations that prove the Bible is true (even though it was written thousands of years ago) and that an intelligent Being has to be the genius behind all the wonders of life on this planet. Yes, He’s intelligent alright; His name is G-O-D! Hallelujah!
It’s vitally important that we look to God as the One Who sustains our personal lives as well. You may take the credit for your successes, but remember that you are the branch and Jesus is the vine! (John 15:5). Apart from Him, you can do nothing! Whether you realize it or not, everything good that has ever happened to and for you, came from God! I talk about what it means to trust God as your Source in “Who’s Your Daddy?”
There’s also one vitally important thing that’s reinforced in this issue, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ—Who is your Source, your Supply, and your Sustainer—is also the Person of Grace. So, whatever you’re going through today, whether its marriage issues, family issues, financial issues, or even some addiction you can’t seem to break free from, never forget that grace is a Person; not a topic, we preach about in church, or a curriculum we study. Christ is the face of Grace! He’s a “hands-on” Friend Who sticks closer than any brother (Proverbs 18:24) and He’s ready, willing, and able to rescue and deliver you from the storms of life. You’ll read more about that this month in my column “It’s All about Grace.”
God also made all of us relational creatures. No one is an island unto himself. So, even in your relationships you must acknowledge God as your Source. You must not make the mistake of looking to another human being to fulfill your needs, or to rescue you from loneliness. If you do, you’ll be deeply disappointed. The void in your heart can only be filled and satisfied by God Himself. It’s in Him that we live, move, and have our very being (Acts 17:28). God wants us to enjoy the good life (John 10:10), but He never intended for us to cling to others to get our needs met. God alone is the Sustainer of our lives.
My prayer is that this spring issue of CHANGE will prompt you to look within. The answers you’re seeking for anything in life cannot be found in what this world calls the “trappings of success” or even in a close relationship with others. True fulfillment comes from cultivating a deep, abiding relationship with the Person of Grace, Jesus Christ!
We love hearing about what God is doing in your life, and we would love to hear how the Gospel of grace is impacting you, so please share your testimonies! Your feedback and comments are important to us, and we would love to hear from you.
